8km shared gravel road to the Pakihi Track. An 11km downhill descent to the Pakihi Hut. Stop here for lunch, sign the book, fill your water bottles. Water is tank/filtered/tap. The Pakihi swing bridge is 1km after the Pakihi Hut and your ride from here is flat. From the end of the track, you have a 24 km ride back into town. 10km on a gravel road and 14km on a sealed road.
The advanced grading on this track is to bring awareness to the drop-offs otherwise this would be a Grade 2-3 ride. Expect small rockfall and windfall on this track. There are 25 bridges and they are numbered 1-25.
Alternatively look for the signs at the end of the straight (Terere Pa Road) if you would like to take in the Otara Stopbank Trail. 3.5km back to the Pakowhai ki Otutaopuku Bridge (Memorial Reserve).
No cellphone range and take all-weather gear.
